The short clip was filmed outside the Milan Bar and uploaded to a viral Facebook page last night captioned: “What’s wrong with the kids of South London?"

The group of around 10 schoolboys, who appear to be aged around 14, pull at the screens surrounding the pavement tables.

As customers stand to escape the mayhem, several of them are doused with liquid.

A small group of the boys appear to be landing punches on a sitting customer. One of the drinkers picks up a chair and tries to use it as a shield.

Michael Malcolmson was among those to comment on the clip, writing: “Their parents must be proud of them - absolutely disgraceful behaviour.”

Mary Higgins compared the behaviour of the youths with those who fought on D Day, writing; “And 75 years today young men fought for our freedom and lost their lives.

"And look at our teenagers today no respect whatsoever disgrace.”

A celebration of the landings at Normandy was held earlier this week with world leaders including Donald Trump and Theresa May gathering in Portsmouth to commemorate the Allied victory.

Joanne McBride said: “An SAS Bootcamp would sort them out.  Disgraceful behaviour.”

Referring to the distinctive hairstyle of one of the youngsters, Paul Charles Maidment wrote: “Even Mickey Mouse has turned in to a thug.”

Martin Champion said: “This is what happens when you take away anyone's right to hit kids, they do what they like. I'm not saying you can give them a pasting - they are kids - but a kick up the a** wouldn't go amiss.

“No matter what kids do there is no consequence, you shout but they don't care, it's just words. If a flame told you ‘I am hot’ you would still put your hand in and get hurt.

“We learn by getting hurt - it's human nature.”

A Wetherspoons spokesman said: “As we understand it, an incident had started away from the pub between a man and around 30 schoolchildren.
“The incident moved down the street towards our pub.

“The man sought refuge in our outside smoking area and customers have tried to assist him.
“The schoolchildren moved into the area and pushed the man back toward the window and they started picking up tables and chairs and hitting the man.
“This was a despicable incident and we will assist in any way we can with their enquiries.”
