Marco Pierre White Jr fined £1,300 for fleeing cafe without paying for £27 breakfast
MARCO Pierre White Jr has appeared in court after doing a runner from a restaurant to skip paying for a £27 breakfast.
The former Celebrity Big Brother contestant - son of millionaire celebrity chef Marco Pierre White - ordered breakfast for himself and a female companion at a trendy cafe in Bath, Somerset.
But after his contactless card was declined, he told staff: "I am Marco Pierre White Jr, Marco Pierre White's son and a Celebrity Big Brother contestant."
He then left Kingsmead Kitchen and said he would be back in 10 minutes to pay - but never returned.
Representing himself at Bath Magistrates Court, the 24-year-old denied making off without making payment but was found guilty after a short trial.
He was ordered to pay a total of £1,328.05 in fines and costs.
Nicole Miebai, prosecuting, said: "He dishonestly made off without paying. He acted dishonestly.
"He said he would return to the restaurant to pay but he did not do it that day, or that week or the following weeks to come.
"The bill has not been settled in full. He has failed to pay for the goods."
CBB STAR HAD £7 IN BANK
Pierre White and his guest ordered a full English breakfast, a sourdough breakfast, a banana smoothie, and a mango and passion fruit smoothie on December 15, 2018.
Pierre White Jr denied various aspects of Mr Rosic's account and claimed he left suddenly because he was unwell.
He said: "He [Mr Rosic] said no payment was taken from the card but on my bank statement it shows £5 and then £3 was withdrawn from the account."
Mr Rosic said he tried repeatedly to use the defendant's card to pay the bill but it kept getting declined.
So he kept lowering the amount on the card machine until that happened. He managed to get payments for £5 and then £3.
Sentencing, Head Magistrate Martin Hollyman said: "Your testimony at times was not believable. The bill was for both parties.
"You said you did not have the card activated but you were £1 in the red in your bank account.
"You said you called the next day but there is no record of this."
