PRINCE Harry and Meghan Markle will travel to Africa later this year to continue Princess Diana's fight against landmines.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are planning to travel to Angola as part of their Autumn tour to carry on her charitable legacy with the HALO Trust.

Prince Harry vows to continue Diana's mission to rid the world of landmines

It was here that the late Princess of Wales visited in January 1997 - just months before her tragic death.

During her tour, Diana was famously pictured wearing a protective visor and vest as she bravely walked through a live minefield.

She later detonated a landmine in front of the world's media to show their destructive power.

And Diana touched the hearts of millions when she met with Sandra Tigica – who was 13-years-old when one of her legs was blown off by a mine.

Her courageous acts helped further calls for a worldwide ban on landmines - which was finally enacted shortly after her death.

CHARITY WORK

Harry and Meghan will also tour Malawi as part of the Prince's ambitions to expand the work of his Sentebale charity.

The tour will also include a visit to South Africa.

Palace aides are reportedly checking whether it is safe to bring baby Archie on the tour.

The royals are already planning a six-month sabbatical to Africa to take place in the coming years.

Buckingham Palace announced on Tuesday that Harry will attend a conference on land mines in London ahead of the tour.

Next week's Chatham House Africa Programme event will be titled "Mine Clearance, Conservation, and Economic Development in Angola".

Announcing the conference, the Palace said: "The presence of land mines and remnants of the civil war render large areas of the country unsafe".

MUM'S LEGACY

Prince Harry has previously been vocal about the inspiring impact his late mother's campaigning had on him and others.

He said on International Mine Awareness Day in 2017 that his determined mum Diana faced down her critics to raise awareness.

Harry added: "Some believed she had stepped over the line into the arena of political campaigning – but for her this wasn’t about politics; it was about people.

"She knew she had a big spotlight to shine, and she used it to bring attention on the people that others had forgotten, ignored or were too afraid to support."

RITA ORA'S SUPPORT

Sentebale, the charity Prince Harry founded after his gap year in Lesotho, supports families affected by Aids.

Last night Prince Harry was joined by celebs like Rita Ora at Hampton Court for a charity concert to raise money for the charity.

Wearing a trademark mini-dress, the Let You Love Me singer met Harry before she took to the rain-soaked stage.

The duke and the singer hugged when they were introduced at King Henry VIII's famous home where entertainers from across the Commonwealth performed in the open-air.

Ora said after their meeting: "I'm so excited, a little bit of rain never really hurts anybody.

"I'm just happy to be here and to be able to support and try and raise as much awareness and money for such a great cause."

Harry spoke at the start of the concert and joked with the crowds, saying: "I am not going take up too much of your time.

"I realise you're all here to see Rita Ora not me."
