The British aide worker has also begun a hunger strike with her husband, and refused to stop following a visit from the prosecutor’s office.

Mr Ratcliffe said:“The message from Nazanin is: enough is enough.

“I think she wanted to make it clear to the authorities in prison that this can’t go on.

“My job in campaigning is always to amplify her message and to make it visible.

“That’s partly why I’m here, making it really clear.”

The Foreign Office has said it supports the protest, with Foreign Secretary Jeremy Hunt meeting with Mr Ratcliffe on Sunday.

‘FREE THIS INNOCENT WOMAN’

He tweeted: “My message to Iran is this DO THE RIGHT THING, SHOW THE WORLD YOUR HUMANITY & LET THIS INNOCENT WOMAN HOME.”

Mrs Zaghari-Ratcliffe, a dual British-Iranian citizen and aid worker, was arrested in Tehran airport on 3rd April 2016 with her then 22-month daughter Gabriella.

She was trying to board a flight back to the UK, having been in Iran to visit her family for Iranian New Year.

In September 2016 she was sentenced to 5 years in prison, for plotting to topple the Iranian government.

She continues to be held in Evin prison, with her husband demanding she be immediately released, be visited by the British Embassy for a health check and if no release is granted to her in the next few weeks, a visa for him to go to Iran.
