GRAMMY award-winning producer DJ Official has been killed in Los Angeles in a shooting.

Born Leslie André Wakefield Jr., the 26-year-old recently worked with Cardi B before being killed.

He was sat in a car with another man when a vehicle drove up beside them and opened fire.

Both men were struck by gunfire on Friday, but details have only emerged today, according to .

DJ Official suffered several gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead, while the other remains in a stable condition.

Authorities did not share any description of the suspects, but LAPD Officer Tony Im said the attack could be gang related.

'HE DIDN'T BELONG TO A GANG'

The producer's grandfather told : "All he did was go to work and come home. He didn't belong to [a] gang or nothing like that".

His tragic and sudden death comes just four months after he won a Grammy for his work on Cardi B's album Invasion Of Privacy.

Earlier this year he also fathered his first child.

He posted an adorable picture of the child to Instagram captioned: "I put in overtime so you can over shine."

The producer worked with rapper Nipsey Hussle before he too was shot dead in March 2019.

Several artists have taken to social media to pay tribute to the DJ, with many angry over the cause of his death.

TRIBUTES POURING IN

Singer Ty Dolla $ign took to Instagram to share a snap of himself with the producer with the caption: ";How the f*** they gon’ take @prodbyofficial?

"Who the f*** was mad at my bro? A father, a successful producer, a solid homie who meant a lot to all of us.

"U n****s is some real life jealous a** b****es out here. we had so much fun on this tour and every time I ran into u it was love and good vibes . LONG LIVE OFFICIAL"

Fellow producer DJ Mustard also expressed his brief and even offered to take care of DJ Official's newborn son.

He wrote: "I’m beyond hurt I’m devastated I’m sick to my stomach I love you lil bro forever @prodbyofficial ....

"i got your son 4 life this ain’t how it was suppose to go [crying emoji] a real 10SUMMER MEMBER !"

One follower wrote: "This is Heartbreaking way too much hate out here bruh. prayers to the family and loved ones [six hands praying emojis, checkered flag emoji] TMC."
