UK weather forecast – 45C Europe heatwave to sizzle Britain as Sahara Bubble brings scorcher tomorrow

A SCORCHING 45C European heatwave is set to hit Britain as the Sahara Bubble sizzles the country today.

The blistering weather has emergency services 'on alert' with healthcare professionals working around the clock to "ensure readiness" for the "danger to life" conditions.

Met Office meteorologist Sophie Yeomans told Sun Online: "We can expect a bright and very sunny start to the day in most parts of the country tomorrow.

"The sun will be very strong during the day as temperatures climb to mid-20s.

"Once we're winding down the day the temperatures are going to gradually lower, however it will be a very fine evening."

A Met Office health advice page warned: "Healthcare services will be working to ensure readiness and swift action to reduce harm from a potential heatwave.

"Heatwaves can be dangerous, especially for the very young or very old or those with chronic disease."

Craig Snell, a Met Office forecaster, told The Sun Online: "The heat at the end of this week can be traced back to North Africa, but that heat has seeped into Spain and France, which will see record-breaking temperatures.

"That will then seep into the UK as we go into Friday and Saturday."

Dr Emer O’Connell, public health consultant at Public Health England, added: "For some people, such as older people, those with underlying health conditions and those with young children, the summer heat can bring real health risks.

That’s why we’re urging everyone to keep an eye on those you know who may be at risk this summer. If you’re able, ask if your friends, family or neighbours need any support."

Warm weather is on its way for the UK tomorrow as temperatures could reach 27C but some will experience a muggy start to their day.

This week's weather predictions expect Majorca to sizzle in a scorching 38C heatwave amid fears of record-breaking temperatures will trigger forest fires across Europe.

Spain will feel the first wave of "intense" heat before the high temperatures spread into France, Germany, Belgium, the Czech Republic, Switzerland and Italy.

Europe will fry in a "potentially dangerous" heatwave this week with temperatures tipped to top 41C (106F) as the continent is engulfed by a brutal African air plume.

Scorching swathes of heat are shown on a dramatic weather map which covers the whole of Britain and stretches all the way from Spain upwards to Norway.

Met Office forecaster Simon Partridge said: “Warm air from north Africa will bring an extensive heatwave to large parts of western and central Europe, with highs into the 40s in Germany and France."

Benidorm's temperature is set to soar to 33C while Malaga and Marbella's temperatures will climb to 28C.

GLASTONBURY GLEE

Thursday will see the temperature go up a notch to 28C giving Glastonbury festival-goers some reprieve after some people arriving early were caught in the mud today.

That trend will only continue into Friday.

Mr Snell said: "It will be a great start to Glastonbury, with a little breeze to the far South West.

"We are looking temperatures in the high 20s, I imagine down towards the South West temperature will go up to 27C or 28C.

"On Friday temperatures will continue to climb with another sunny day across the board.

"Temperatures will go up a notch in North Somerset and Wales as it could tip to 30C.

"It will be a hot day for Glastonbury."

The hottest day of the week will be Saturday as the mercury will comfortably go above 30C in some places - but it won't reach the record temperature of 35C.

Mr Snell said: "The heat will move towards the East and by that stage London towards Lincolnshire will reach 31C or 32C.

"Some places may possibly reach 33C, but as of now we are safe from hitting the June record of 35.6C.

"It will still certainly be the hottest spell of weather this year."
