A PENSIONER who killed his six-year-old great-grandson with an air gun uploaded a smug holiday picture to Facebook the day after what would have been the boy’s 7th birthday.
Albert Grannon, 78, has shown no remorse after killing Stanley Metcalf and his granddaughter begged a judge to send him to prison.
The retired ship worker, from Sproatley, near Hull, East Yorks, was yesterday jailed for three years after admitting manslaughter.
Stanley’s final words were “why have you shot me, grandad” after he “accidentally” fired his dangerously-modified weapon into the boy's abdomen.
The pellet ripped through the football-mad youngster’s stomach and severed an artery on July 26 last year.
BROKEN
Stanley’s heartbroken mum Jenny Dees said the family is "broken beyond repair" and that she still hasn't received an apology from her grandfather.
And the family is likely to be even more distraught after it today emerged that Grannon shamelessly posted a picture of him smiling on a cruise the day after Stanley’s birthday.
The picture of Grannon and his wife Jennifer was posted on December 22 – the same time as Stanley’s heartbroken parents were trying to comprehend their first Christmas without their son.
Albert, who is known as “Sam”, wrote: “Sam and Jennifer Grannon would like to wish all members of this site a very Happy Christmas and a Happy New Year.”

After the sentencing, Miss Dees read out an emotional victim impact statement, adding “our whole world has changed forever”.
She said: “Not once did he say sorry. Now if he did, it would be too little too late. I hope you can live with yourself."
She said: "Our whole world has changed forever. It is unbearable, we struggle to live, to eat and breathe. Nothing will make this better, our hearts are totally broken.
"The pain in my heart is unbearable, I cry and cry and sometimes I think I am not going to stop."
LOST A BEST FRIEND
Speaking outside court after the sentencing, she said: "This will never heal the pain of losing Stanley."
Mr Justice Lavender said: "No sentence I impose can undo what you’ve done."
Stanley's father Andy Metcalf said he has "lost his best friend" and asked Grannon: "Why did you take our little boy away?"
The court heard how Stanley, whose twin sister has been left heartbroken, shouted "you shot me grandad" as he was crouched over clutching his stomach.
He had followed his great-grandad inside the house to look at the air rifle and when his mum first saw him hunched over, she thought he was play acting.
Humberside Police previously said Grannon had shown no remorse until he pleaded guilty last month.

She added: "I have had no remorse shown to me. I have had no apology and that is unbearable and unbelievable to see.”
