Boris has a pint with Wetherspoons boss Tim Martin who backs him for PM and urges him to go for a No Deal Brexit
BORIS Johnson had a pint with Wetherspoons boss Tim Martin today - who backed him to be the next PM and urged him to go for a No Deal Brexit.
The boss of the popular pub chain, who is one of the most famous Brexit backers, hosted the Tory front-runner at one of his establishments in London today.
And he said Boris was a "winner" for Britain.
Mr Martin revealed higher sales figures earlier today as he threw his support behind Britain pulling out of the EU without a deal.
The pub firm's chairman said: "I think that the reality is that the next prime minister is going to come from the Tory party and Boris has a very close association with Brexit having led the campaign to leave during the referendum.
"He can be a good prime minister because he has had another job, he has been a magazine editor for a long time which is a tough gig, he has been mayor of London and he was very successful in leading the referendum campaign.
"I think he's a winner. Can he deliver Brexit? I hope that he can."
Mr Martin said he was "an impressive guy", a "hard worker" and was "charismatic".
But he has no plans to be bankrolling Boris' campaign just yet, or the Tory party.
Boris posed for selfies at the Metropolitan Bar, signed autographs for fans and pulled pints.
One angry Remainer customer started banging the table and calling for a so-called people's vote.
But BoJo hit back: "We've already had one!"
As Boris and Mr Martin poured their pints, the pub chain boss suggested he was doing "bloody well" with the hand pump and would move "straight up to the higher level of pay" if politics did not work out as a career.
But Boris didn't finish his pint saying he "had quite a late night last night" after the telly debate on ITV.
JD Wetherspoon has seen sales rise 6.9 per cent in the 10 weeks to July 7, seeing share prices soar.
Mr Martin called for a "multi-deal" deal to leave the EU by securing mini agreements for businesses and other organisations, rather than a formal one between the EU and UK.
This would be "simpler and safer" he insisted.
