HOP FROM THE COPS

Dramatic moment drug suspect jumps fence as police smash £3.8m cannabis operation

THIS is the moment a drug suspect fled a house during a police raid of a £3.8million cannabis operation.

Jamie Germaine, 46, had been selling drugs in the Llanrumney area for over a decade when cops used a chainsaw to enter the South Wales property in July 2018.

Multiple police officers raided the South Wales property last July

Now footage has emerged of a man fleeing the house by leaping over fences as officers stormed the building.

Cops kept Germaine and those working for him under close surveillance for six months before launching the raid, during which more than £600,000 was seized.

South Wales Police Organised Crime Unit arrested Germaine, his partner, his two sons and ten associates as part of the operation.

Footage of the dramatic swoop was filmed using body cameras and a drone overhead.

CCTV EVIDENCE

Officers also seized Germaine’s own CCTV equipment which was then used as evidence against him as it showed him moving large bags of cannabis and skunk into the property.

The footage, according to South Wales Police, “showed the frequency and volume of cannabis deliveries, and the identity of those involved”.

Detective Inspector Sion Parker, who led the investigation, said: “More than £600k was seized during the six-month investigation which is one of the biggest ever cash seizures from an Organised Crime Group in South Wales.

“From January 2018 to July 2018, it is estimated that the value of cannabis passing through Germaine’s house was up to £3.8million.

“Today’s sentencing is not the end of the matter, the Germaine family and other members of the group will now be subject to a Proceeds of Crime hearing later in the year.

“The Proceeds of Crime Act enables us to seize and restrain all the criminal assets derived from people involved in drug trafficking.”

JAILED FOR 22 YEARS

DI Parker added: “The Germaine OCG are well-known in the Llanrumney area.

“We hope that the police intervention in relation to their criminality has had a positive impact with in the community and continues to show South Wales Police’ determination in targeting Organised Crime Groups and keeping our communities safe.”

Germaine was sentenced to six years and nine months in prison for his leading role in the drug gang.

Meanwhile his two sons Tyrell Germaine, 23, and Shaquille Germaine, 21, were jailed for two-and-a-half years and two years respectively.

Germaine’s partner Danielle Jeanne, 40, was given a 24-month community order.
