R KELLY has been branded a “danger to schoolgirls” as the judge denied the singer bail.

Prosecutor Angel Krull told district judge Harry Leinenwaber: "If he was attracted to middle school girls in 1999 then he's still attracted to middle school girls.

"That's who the defendant is and that, your honour, makes him a danger today.

"Electronic monitoring can't stop obstruction of justice, witness tampering."

She added: "He can entice victims to his own home."

Judge Leinenwaber said it was up to Kelly’s lawyer to prove that he was not a danger to the public and that his legal team had failed to do this.

The denial of bail could see Kelly behind bars for the rest of his life, if he was found guilty of the charges.

The R&B singer, whose real name is Robert Sylvester Kelly, appeared at a Chicago court yesterday after his arrest last week and pleaded not guilty to making child pornography, obstructing justice and other crimes relating to sex with underage girls.

The 52-year-old Grammy-winning singer turned up for his court appearance with two girlfriends in tow – Joycelyn Savage and Azriel Clary.

R Kelly was already facing state charges relating to the sexual abuse of three girls and a woman in Illinois.

It is also thought he could be taken to New York to face new federal charges.

Kelly has repeatedly denied allegations of sexual abuse for decades.

He was arrested in 2002 after a video emerged which was said to show Kelly with a 14-year-old girl but he was found not guilty after a trial in 2008.

According to the New York indictment, Kelly is alleged to have committed sex crimes against five women, given the name Jane Doe to protect their identities.

One of the women - dubbed Jane Doe No. 2 - met Kelly in a mall about 15 years ago, while she was her early twenties, the reports.

Kelly invited her to his recording studio in Chicago, where his associates made a copy of her driving licence.

They also searched her suitcase and had her sign what she believed was a nondisclosure agreement.

She was taken to a locked bedroom, where she was kept for three days “without sustenance”.

After a member of Kelly’s entourage finally gave her something to eat and drink, she became dizzy and tired.

She woke up to find Kelly with her “in circumstances that made clear he had sexually assaulted her while she was unconscious”, prosecutors say.

It has also emerged two of Kelly’s 'brainwashed' girlfriends are feared to have made a suicide pact following his arrest.

Jocelyn Savage and Azriel Clary are reported to be living with the R&B star at his apartment in Chicago, where he was arrested on Thursday while walking his dog.

Gerald Griggs, a lawyer acting on behalf of Savage's family, has now said his clients are concerned the two women may be planning to kill themselves if it becomes clear the singer is not coming back, reported.
