Man stabbed with machete in ‘homophobic attack’ outside Sainsbury’s as cops hunt knifeman
A MAN was today stabbed in the leg with a MACHETE in a suspected homophobic attack in front of terrified London commuters.
Cops rushed to the Sainsbury's store by Canada Water Tube station at around 3.15pm and found a man had been stabbed in the leg.
He was rushed to a South London hospital and cops believe there may be a "homophobic motive for the attack".
The suspect fled the scene on a motorbike and cops have today launched a desperate manhunt.
A Scotland Yard spokesman told The Sun Online: "Police are dealing with a suspected homophobic attack in Southwark.
MACHETE ATTACK
"Officers were called at 3.12pm today to Surrey Quays Road, SE16.
"It was reported a man had been attacked with a machete. Officers attended and found a man with a wound to his leg.
"He was taken by LAS to a south London hospital. The suspect is believed to have left the scene on a motorbike.
"A crime scene is in place. No arrests. At this time police believe there may be a homophobic motive for the attack. Enquiries continue."
It comes just a day after three men were shot by a masked gunman in East London.

Cops rushed to the bloody scene in Hackney after shots were fired at around 10.30pm.
Reports last night suggested the incident could have been an attack which marred an event to mark the anniversary of the death of Rashan Charles.
No arrests have yet been made.
Today's stabbing and last night's shooting are the latest incidents to blight the capital as Lawless London's knife crime epidemic reached unprecedented levels earlier this year.
There have been more than 78 deaths linked to knife crime in the capital since the start of 2019.

Last year was London's bloodiest in a decade - when the number of homicides reached 132 - and it shows no signs of abating.
As of July 17, Scotland Yard had launched 78 murder investigations in London.
Recent figures revealed knife crime in England and Wales soared to a record high, with 43,000 offences last year.
This year got off to a bloody start when mum-of-one Charlotte Huggins, 33, was knifed to death at her home in Camberwell, South East London on New Year’s Day.
