Boris Johnson to spark election fever with an immediate £1.8bn booster for the NHS
BORIS Johnson will spark election fever this week with an immediate £1.8billion NHS booster.
The PM will rush forward a frontline spending spree to upgrade 20 rundown hospitals.
The extra cash will provide new beds, cutting-edge equipment, ward improvements and building repairs.
It will come on top of the £33.9billion annual increase in funding promised by his predecessor Theresa May.
But the speed and scale of action will heighten suspicions he is gearing up for an autumn General Election. A source said: “The
PM has been clear since day one that the NHS is a top priority.

“This money will be felt by frontline services, by the doctors and nurses whose hard work is invaluable, and by the patients they care for.” Mr Johnson will reveal the 20 hospitals to benefit on a visit to one of them.
The cash will be spent across the country. Writing in The Sun on Sunday, Health Secretary Matt Hancock also promised state-of-the art technology to save lives under a new digital unit.
But Shadow Health Secretary Jonathan Ashworth said: “Tory ministers have cut capital investment, with the NHS repair bill hitting £6billion.”
