Teen, 18, who died after suspected overdose in Leeds nightclub pictured for first time
AN 18-year-old girl has died from a suspected ecstasy overdose at a nightclub while dancing with her pals in the early hours of this morning.
The teenager - named locally as Courtney Chamberlain - collapsed while partying at The Warehouse nightspot in Leeds, West Yorkshire.
She was rushed to Leeds General Infirmary by ambulance at 3.18am but died shortly afterwards despite frantic efforts to save her by paramedics and doctors.
A 19-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of supplying class A drugs and remains in police custody.
It is understood Courtney was taken ill in the toilets of the city centre club and the tragedy comes a day after a 17-year-old died of a suspected overdose at Leeds Festival.
DISTRESSED STATE
One witness said: “A security guard brought her outside to give her fresh air and give first aid.
“She was screaming and in a distressed state. An Ambulance arrived and she was put in the back.
"Shortly afterwards, a trauma doctor arrived in a rapid response car. He stayed with her as the ambulance blue lighted her to hospital.
"The trauma paramedic came back for his car about 90 minutes later and said she hadn't made it.
"She was only a child and only just turned 18."
