Veteran Lib Dem Norman Lamb announces he is standing down — meaning a Brexit seat will soon be up for grabs
A TOP Brexit marginal seat will be up for grabs at the next General Election after veteran Lib Dem MP Sir Norman Lamb announced he is standing down.
The 61-year-old MP for North Norfolk, who served as a health minister during the Coalition, issued a thinly-veiled attack on his own party’s aggressive anti-Brexit stance as he announced his departure from the Commons.
“I think we are in a very sad and disturbing place in our politics. It feels like there are two camps.
“But I think the public expects politicians to rise above the fray and be willing to bring the country together again.”
The Lib Dems will face an uphill struggle to keep hold of the seat considering its pro-Brexit majority.
The seat voted 58 per cent Leave in the 2016 Brexit referendum.
