Couple become real-life Willy Wonkas after quitting busy city jobs to buy a chocolate factory

A COUPLE quit their busy city jobs to become real-life Willy Wonkas — by buying a chocolate factory.

Mark Owen, 50, and wife Karen, 46, produce 100,000 bars a year and employ 22 workers.

The couple, who have three children, had dreamed of making chocolate, with Karen having worked as a chocolatier as a teenager.

They left their London jobs in 2013 to run Wickedly Welsh Chocolate — a factory, café and visitor centre in Haverfordwest, Pembrokeshire.

Mark said: "We realised that life is short and Karen had been going on for ages about making chocolate.

"Making chocolate is the best thing we have ever done.

"We love what we do and now make over 100,000 bars of chocolate a year.

"Coming up with new recipes is so exciting.

"We just want to partner with as many independent retailers as possible. "
