EU's snakes

OUR Prime Minister’s treatment at the hands of Luxembourg’s smugly self-important leader was an outrage.

Why should Boris Johnson give a Press conference while being drowned out by hollering pro-EU yobs?

Instead of shifting the session inside, as decency and courtesy demanded, Xavier Bettel seized his moment to humiliate Boris and badmouth Britain.

It was staggeringly rude and unstatesmanlike. Would our PM have done the same outside No10 if the boot was on the other foot? No. It is unthinkable.

Such antics insult not just Boris and 17.4million Leave voters, but all of us. He is our PM, whether Remainers like it or not. Seeing them cheer Bettel was utterly nauseating.

Since 2016 our country has routinely been insulted by sneering EU leaders. But every single stunt hands Boris more votes and proves us right to leave.

Imagine if Remoaners somehow force us to remain trapped in this vipers’ nest.

The Lib dumbs

INSIDE the Lib Dem bubble they consider themselves brave, cunning pro-Remain insurgents rising in the polls. To everyone else they are a bigger joke now than ever.

They have made a huge mistake . Never before has a party opted to vandalise our democracy, as some aghast Lib Dems and Remainers are pointing out.

Leader Jo Swinson campaigned for a referendum. Now, having lost, she would simply annul it. That is not a credible position for a serious politician.

The Libs blundered in electing her. So did ex-Tory and Labour MPs joining her.

The party’s positions are incoherent. Treasury spokesman Ed Davey says Leave voters would “have a central place in a Lib Dem economy” — but only after Swinson has stripped them of their democratic rights.

The big eco announcement, a deterrent tax on flights, would exempt people flying “for family and things”. That’s not a considered policy. That’s wibble.

What a choice Swinson has given Remainers who aim to vote on Brexit lines: Corbyn’s anti-Semitic Marxists reducing our economy to rubble . . .

Or her own reckless extremism setting fire to our democracy.

Beeb's fantasy

WE’VE heard it Hall now.

BBC chief Tony Hall reckons the corporation will see off Amazon and Netflix because it is a more “ethical” choice.

Right . . . because millions pick a TV platform not because it has the best shows for less money but because of its (disputable) “values”. Best of luck!

And good luck, too, if you aim to charge a Netflix-style subscription AND the licence fee. The public won’t buy that.

End the TV tax, go subscription-only and they might, at a pinch, consider it.
