Corbyn warns he’ll only debate Theresa May over Brexit if no one else is invited – as C4 prepares ‘Boris versus Blair’ clash
The two leaders are supposed to take part in a TV debate in a week but have clashed over the format
JEREMY Corbyn could sign up for the BBC's Brexit debate with Theresa May - but not if anyone else gets invited.
The Labour boss this weekend said he would agree to appear in the head-to-head clash as long as he and the PM are the only ones on stage.
But the showdown may be overshadowed by a rival Channel 4 debate - which could feature Tony Blair versus Boris Johnson.
In a Sun interview last week, Mrs May challenged Mr Corbyn to a televised debate on her Brexit deal to take place a week today.
Ever since the two leaders have argued over what the format should be.
The PM favours a BBC proposal which would feature the debate as part of a wider panel discussion.
But Mr Corbyn will only take part if the clash is one-on-one with no one else involved, as suggested by ITV.
He said last night: "Theresa May said she wanted a head to head debate with me on her botched Brexit deal and I am ready to do that.
"ITV have a straightforward plan. If she and her team prefer BBC, she should join me in asking them to arrange an actual head-to-head debate."
The BBC says more voices should be heard because of the wide range of opinions held by MPs.
Today it emerged that Channel 4 wants to host a rival Brexit debate featuring leading politicians.

The channel's "wish list" would see ex-PM Mr Blair face off against Boris or Jacob Rees-Mogg, the Sunday Times reported.
And Simon Cowell also wants to organise a Brexit debate which could be shown by ITV.
His production company is planning an event which would feature business leaders and ordinary voters discussing the issue.
