A BREXITEER MP stormed out of a live interview today after a Theresa May supporter was invited to join.

As the party civil war over Brexit deepened, Tory MP Andrew Brigden scuttled off sharpish when James Cleverly was invited to join the live BBC broadcast this afternoon to discuss the chaos in Westminster.

BBC presenter Victoria Derbyshire had suggested the pair "might not want to speak to each other".

And Mr Bridgen was quick to announce: "I'll go". He'd just been on telly to say the PM had "lost the trust" of her own MPs.

The MP for North West Leicestershire said: "Given the Prime Minister's breathtaking U-turn today, I put it to her that she's lost the trust and credibility of the House, lost the trust and credibility of the country and most importantly she's lost the trust and credibility of the European Union as well."

The PM has just made a begging pitch to Tory MPs today at a meeting of backbenchers as she desperately fights to save her job.

Brexiteer Mr Bridgen has put in a letter of no confidence in the Prime Minister tonight, but Tory party deputy chair James Cleverly will support the PM in the vote of confidence tonight.

He told the BBC he had "known Andrew for many years" and he "likes him a lot".

Mr Cleverly said he would "of course be voting in support of Theresa May" today.

As the PM faced the fight of her life:

  • She hinted she won't lead the party into the next General Election in a bid to win over her wavering backbenchers
  • Mrs May faced down MPs at Prime Minister's Questions in the Commons
  • Cabinet ministers and Remain-backing Tories piled in behind her
  • Brexiteers insisted she must go and let a new leader restart talks with the EU
  • David Davis and Dominic Raab teamed up with Arlene Foster to announce a new plan for Brexit

Tory MPs will vote in the next hour whether they want her to stay on as PM.

If they decide to boot her out, a fresh leadership battle will commence by the end of the day.

Boris Johnson is currently the front-runner, but hot on his heels are Dominic Raab, Sajid Javid and Jeremy Hunt.

What are the odds? Bookies' tips for next Tory leader

BORIS Johnson and Dominic Raab are today joint favourites to become the next Tory leader after a no confidence vote in Theresa May was triggered.

Both MPs are priced at 4/1 to replace May if she doesn’t survive the vote which takes place later this evening.

And it is set to be a dramatic vote as bookies can't call which way it is going to swing with Coral offering 10/11 that May wins and 10/11 she loses.

Joint-favourite Raab, 44, dramatically left his role as Brexit Secretary last month and has been widely tipped to become the party's new leader.

Meanwhile, Boris, 54, has been openly campaigning against May who has struggled following her Brexit negotiations.

Education Secretary Michael Gove is priced at 6/1 while Home Secretary Sajid Javid is also in the running with bookies pricing him as low as 5/1.

Punters can back Jeremy Hunt at 7/1 while outsiders Penny Mordaunt and Jacob Rees-Mogg are both priced at 12/1.

Full list of runners and riders:

Dominic Raab: 4/1

Boris Johnson: 4/1

Sajid Javid: 5/1

Michael Gove: 6/1

Jeremy Hunt: 7/1

Penny Mordaunt: 12/1

Jacob Rees-Mogg: 12/1

David Davis: 14/1

Amber Rudd: 16/1
