MPS REVOLT CANCELLED

Remain Cabinet Ministers will call off No Deal rebellion in Brexit deal with No10 as PM announces Commons vote in February

This will stop rebel MPs from resigning in protest at not being allowed to vote to stop a No Deal

‘REMAIN’ Cabinet Ministers were poised to call off a No Deal rebellion in a deal with No.10.

Theresa May told MPs the Commons would get a second ‘Meaningful Vote’ on Brexit by February 13 to 14.

Sources close to 20 rebel Ministers such as Pensions Secretary Amber Rudd said this was enough to stop them resigning in protest at not being able to vote for the ‘Cooper-Boles’ plan to block a No Deal.

Essentially they will now be able to either vote on the PM’s revised deal – or be given a fresh chance to block a No Deal – in mid-February.

One source said: “The PM says she doesn’t want No Deal but we cannot fall into it by accident.

“We’re all behind her but she must make sure the Meaningful Vote comes before the House with enough time otherwise there will be a Payroll who’ll happily take a P45.”

Digital Minister Margot James warned that she expected the PM to sign up to EU customs union if her deal fails a second time round.

She said: “I would like to give the Prime Minister’s deal another chance of success, but this requires knowing there will be another chance to vote no later than the middle of February.

“If it turns out that we can’t get a majority for her deal there is still time to reach across party lines to see if we can build a parliamentary majority for an alternative deal.”
