Ministers to release ‘secret’ No Deal warnings after Remain MP Anna Soubry’s contempt of court threat
Documents only previously seen by Cabinet Ministers about the likely impact of a No Deal on business and trade will be published in a new paper
MINISTERS will release ‘secret’ No Deal warnings following a contempt threat from ‘Remain’ MP Anna Soubry.
Documents only previously seen by Cabinet Ministers about the likely impact of a No Deal on business and trade will be summarised and published in a new paper. They were prepared by the civil service.
Downing Street said: “We are committed to publishing that and we are going to do it very shortly.”
The Government promised to publish the confidential information earlier this month after a Commons amendment from the Independent Group’s Ms Soubry.
At the time she said MPs comfortable with No Deal should be “better informed” about the “dangers”.
On Sunday, ‘Remain’ Work and Pensions Secretary Amber Rudd furiously denied pointing Ms Soubry “in the right direction” and helping her table her demands.

She said she was considering taking contempt proceedings in Parliament against the Brexit department if they weren’t published by Wednesday crunch debate.
Ms Soubry said: “What they show is an impartial, honest appraisal of the grave dangers to our country in trade and economic terms if we leave without a deal.
“We believe that the public have a right to see those papers.”
