LEFTIE author Will Self today declared that "all racists voted for Leave" sparking a massive row on live TV.

The best-selling novelist made the baseless accusation which prompted a furious stand-off with Brexiteer MP Mark Francois on BBC's Politics Live.

The Tory hit back, blasting: "I think you should apologise."

The two men were then locked in a furious row - which ended with the pair of them death-staring each other.

Fervent Remainer Mr Self claimed: "You don't have to be a racist or anti-Semite to vote for Brexit, it's just that every racist and anti-Semite in the country did."

Mr Francois raged: "I think you should apologise on national television. I think that's an outrageous thing to say.

"Are you saying that 17.4million people are racists and bigots because they voted for Brexit?"

Mr Self denied he was tarring all Leave voters with the claim, saying: "What I said was every racist and anti-Semite, pretty much probably voted for Brexit."

Mr Francois, a leading member of the hardline European Research Group, said: "How do you know that in a secret ballot?"

The author admitted: "I don't know it but I suspect it."

The pair then glared at each other as other guests continued the debate.
