JEREMY Corbyn today dashed the hopes of his pro-EU fan base by saying he could vote Leave in a second Brexit referendum.

The Labour leader, a lifelong Eurosceptic, suggested he might back Brexit despite being backed by millions of Remain voters.

And he refused to say whether or not he fundamentally believes it's right for the UK to quit the EU.

Mr Corbyn's pro-Brexit stance is set to alienate Labour activists and MPs who are in favour of overturning the result of the 2016 referendum.

Last week the Labour boss ordered his MPs to vote against a Commons amendment calling for a second Brexit vote.

But the party is expected to back a fresh motion this week which would allow for a so-called "people's vote" on Theresa May's deal.

Asked how he would vote in a second referendum, Mr Corbyn told Sky News: "It depends what the choice is in front of us.

"If we've got a good deal in which we can have a dynamic relationship with Europe then that might be a good way forward to unite the country."

And pressed further on whether he thinks it's right for Britain to leave the EU, he said: "I've had many criticisms of the EU, I recognise many of the values of the EU - I'd like to see it more accountable and democratic."

Chuka Umunna, who quit Labour last week to lead the Independent Group, claimed Mr Corbyn's stance was "a betrayal of working people".

Mrs May is hoping to bring her deal back to the Commons this week for a third time.

If she does, Labour backbenchers Peter Kyle and Phil Wilson will table an amendment calling for a public vote on the deal.

Mr Corbyn is likely to order his MPs to fall in line behind the Kyle/Wilson motion.

But pro-Brexit rebels have already warned they will defy the party leader and refuse to back a second referendum.

John Mann said: "It contradicts Labour's election manifesto and I will not be voting for it."
