Vets called to treat No10 cat after fears of ‘fracas’ with rival Foreign Office moggie
The tabby is now 'happily recuperating' after the mystery incident
LARRY the Downing Street cat has been treated by vets after injuring his front paw in a mystery incident.
Britain’s most famous kitty was spotted limping just days after he got into a scrap with the Foreign Office cat who lives next door.
It was not known whether his injury came from a fighting his deadly nemesis Palmerston, but the pair had been seen fighting last week.
Today No 10 said they had called in a vet to treat his sore paw.
A spokesman said: “I can confirm that Larry is happily recuperating in No10, and is very grateful for the generous donations from the No10 staff that have funded his treatment.”
Today Larry’s plight was even raised in the House of Commons by a Labour MP.
Ann Clwyd said: “I wish to ask the Leader of the House about the cat at No. 10, who looks in a sorry situation, limping with one paw in the air.”
Adding: “Is that because he is missing the old Prime Minister? Does the new Prime Minister care for the welfare of cats as much as the old Prime Minister did?”
New Leader of the House of Commons David Liddington moved to “completely reassure her about the Prime Minister’s good intentions towards Larry the cat.”
He added: “I saw some reports in the media that he had been involved in a fracas with the Foreign Office cat. I hope that they have now established a modus vivendi.”
