Piers Morgan accused of sexism after ‘pathetic’ interview with Theresa May where he asked about shoes and scones and called the PM a ‘little firecracker’
The Good Morning Britain host was attacked on social media for the way he questioned the Tory leader
PIERS Morgan was accused of being a “sad, sexist man” this morning after using an interview with the Prime Minister to ask her about shoes and her recipe for scones.
The Good Morning Britain host was also blasted on Twitter for calling Theresa May a “little firecracker” this morning.
Appearing on the breakfast TV show during the Tory party conference, she might have expected to talk about the various policy announcements made overnight.
Mrs May’s Government have said they will hire 1,500 new doctors, as well as changing legislation to protect our armed forces from tank-chasing lawyers.
But instead she was asked about her footwear by Mr Morgan, who was labelled “pathetic” by social media users.
The PM retorted: “It's interesting that people focus on shoes, I don't think they focus on Philip Hammond's or Boris Johnson's in the same way."

Having spoken about her love for Mary Berry at the weekend, the host pressed her for more detail on her scone recipe - asking her is she preferred hard butter or soft butter, in reference to the so-called ‘hard’ or ‘soft’ options for Brexit.
One social media user posted a message at the presenter saying: “With all the problems of this country, you spend more time on PM shoes & scones....”
He also asked her about Donald Trump, to which she replied that she was not endorsing any candidate in the US election.
But Mr Morgan used the opportunity to suggest Mrs May could set up a “girl-power triumvirate” with Angela Merkel and Hillary Clinton, leading to more claims of sexism.
However the host himself seemed unfazed, tweeting after the interview that it was “a great interview”.
He added: “Think we straddled all the big issues. #brexit #trump #shoes #scones #regrets.”
Elsewhere in the interview she said she wants a “smooth transition” out of the EU but admits that the Brexit process will not be “plain sailing” for the economy.
She said the reason she revealed the date by which she will trigger Article 50 is because: “Businesses want some degree of clarity. I want to give people more certainty.”
A Good Morning Britain spokesperson said: "Piers and Susanna's lengthy interview with the Prime Minister this morning covered a range of serious topics which included Brexit, migration, trade and the USA Presidential Elections.
"As it was the first opportunity for GMB viewers to see the new PM on the programme, she was also asked a few light hearted questions towards the very end of the interview to reveal a bit of her personality."
