Liz Truss plans to make Ukraine one of her first foreign visits if she becomes Prime Minister
LIZ Truss is planning to visit Ukraine in her first months in office if she becomes the next PM, The Sun can reveal.
She wants to send a message early on that Britain will remain Kyiv’s best friend after Boris Johnson leaves No10.
The overwhelming favourite to be the next PM has already vowed to make Volodymy Zelensky her first foreign call if she gets the top job.
As energy bills rocket as a result of Mad Vlad Putin’s evil invasion, ministers are worried that resolve to stand up to Russia could fracture.
A source close to Ms Truss told The Sun on Sunday: “Obviously Boris and Zelensky have a very close personal relationship.
“But our relationship with Ukraine is so important it transcends one person.
“It is very high up her agenda.”
Liz has a very close relationship with Ukraine’s foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba.
She had been planning a trip to the war-torn country while she was Foreign Secretary, but did not get it over the line before Bojo’s sudden fall from power.
