Tributes paid to tragic Kieran McQuillan, 7, who was killed by a van just a year after his baby sister died

KIERAN McQuillan was killed after being hit by a van just over a year after his baby sister perished, family and friends revealed.

She lost her fight for life in February last year after being born prematurely.

A loved one wrote online: “Please join me in sending much love to Kieran’s family. He has sadly gone to join his beautiful sister on the stars.

“His daddy and stepmum already suffered a heartbreaking loss of a baby weeks old and now tragically Kieran in an accident.

“My thoughts and love are with you both and your beautiful children.”

Another said: “Fly high to the stars Kieran and wrap your arms around your wee sister and give a big hug from me.”

And a third added: “RIP little man, the most sweetest, politest little boy I’ve ever had the pleasure of knowing.”

Flowers have been laid close to the spot Kieran was .

The driver, 46, was unhurt. His vehicle was towed away as part of the cop probe.

Sergeant Steve Manson appealed for witnesses to the smash at 5.30pm on Friday.

He added: “My thoughts are very much with the family and friends of the boy who died.”

Last May, Gavin — understood to have split from Kieran’s mum — told of Calleigh’s death as he backed a campaign to ensure tots born before 24 weeks get life-saving treatments.

Signing a petition calling for a law shake-up, he wrote: “Myself and my partner have friends and family that had prem babies, some survived and some have not. We’ve also lost a baby, Calleigh Faith McQuillan, born at 26+3 days weighing 510grams.

“She fought for six months and passed away. People trying to change these laws probably have never had a premature baby and will never understand the pain and heartache it creates.”
