Mark – who has allocated outdoor space in the grounds of the flour-flat block – is demanding his local council remove the device, claiming he has had “no privacy” since it was installed in March 2020.

Mark told the : “I feel like I am constantly being watched and that I have no privacy in my own garden.

“I haven’t been able to sit out my in my garden since the start of lockdown in March last year.

“I just don’t feel comfortable with the camera there.”

The property is split into four flats, each with private entryways.

The neighbour’s front door is just two feet from Mark’s garden, meaning his small spot of grass is in prime view of the doorbell camera.

Ring Doorbells have become an increasingly popular home security device, allowing the user to answer the doorbell via an app connected to a camera and an intercom.

Permission is needed before tenants install equipment to their council property, Renfrewshire Council said.

A spokesperson added: “The local Housing Officer continues to provide Mr Fairman with advice as we seek to resolve this matter.

“Any tenant or resident using filming equipment at their property should operate this in a responsible way to respect the privacy of others.”
