'I'LL NEVER EAT THERE AGAIN'

Horrified mum claims she found half a WORM after biting into a McDonald’s chicken nugget

Disgusted Sheree Hunter says she spent the night vomiting after accidentally eating part of the creature at the branch in Barking, Essex

A MUM who munched on one of her toddler’s chicken nuggets in McDonalds was horrified to find half a worm nestled inside the meat - meaning she’d just eaten the other half.

Disgusted Sheree Hunter says she spent the night vomiting after accidentally eating part of the creature - but feels relieved it was her rather than her 18-month-old son Lennie who swallowed it.

She says she’s so traumatised after the incident she now checks everything she and her children eat to make sure there are no bugs in their food.

The 36-year-old, who also has boys aged 10 and 14, had taken her two youngest children to their local McDonalds in Barking, Essex, for lunch on Bank Holiday Monday last month.

She told The Sun: “I got Lennie a Happy Meal and nicked one of his nuggets. But as I bit into it there was a black, stripy worm in it.

“I realised I must have eaten half of it. It was disgusting.

“I took it up to show the manager and said, ‘Can you tell me what this is?’ He said, ‘Oh, it looks like a worm.

"We’ll have to send it away to head office for testing.'

“I’ve got a really bad of phobia of spiders and things like that anyway, and I was sick all night afterwards just at the thought of it. I had to go to the doctors.

“Someone from McDonalds head office finally got in touch with me this week and just offered me £15 ‘Love to Shop’ vouchers or McDonalds vouchers - but I said, ‘I’m never eating in McDonalds again.’

“It’s made me really paranoid now - every time I eat anything, or give food to my children, I’m constantly looking through it all to make sure there’s nothing in it.

“Plus it made me really sick - and all he was offering was some vouchers.

“It’s disgusting. It’s not like it’s some dodgy side street café - it’s McDonalds.

"You don’t expect it.”

A McDonald’s spokesperson told the Sun Online: "As soon as Ms Hunter brought this to our attention last month, we launched a full investigation and found no other products were affected, nor is there any sign of any other problems at the store.

"Food safety is our highest priority and we follow rigorous standards in order to avoid any imperfections in our food.

"We are unable to determine the origin of this object, but due to the high temperatures needed to cook our food, we don’t believe the object could withstand this process.

"Our Customer Services team has been in touch with Ms Hunter to offer our apologies, and a gift voucher which she has declined."
