Boy and girl, 13, charged after ten school pupils ‘took Valium’ on lunch break

A BOY and girl aged just 13 have been charged after ten school pupils ‘took Valium pills’ on their lunch break.
Emergency services were called to high school in Dunfermline, Fife, after a number of students fell ill yesterday.
The school confirmed that 'some pupils may have taken tablets' , understood to be Valium, and were taken to hospital.
Four students were taken to Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy while six students were treated at the scene by paramedics.
Police have now confirmed that a boy and girl, both 13, have been charged in connection with the incident.
A spokesperson said: “We can confirm that a boy and a girl, both aged 13, have been charged in connection with an incident at a school in Dunfermline on 18th January 2019.
“A report will be submitted to the Children's Reporter in due course."
Parents were notified in an email from the school yesterday.
It said: "After lunch time today, we were made aware that some of our pupils may have taken tablets outside school grounds during lunch time.
"We called emergency services immediately and have worked tirelessly with them to try and support pupils who may have been affected.

"Our first priority has been to check the identified names and contact their parents/carers.
"We have, in conjunction with police and paramedics, also held two quick assemblies with S2 and S3 to ask for any more possible names and to inform that we would be contacting parents/carers immediately.
"We would urge you to speak to your child to ensure that they have not taken any tablets from anybody and to take medical advice if you think they have.
"Thank you for your continued support."
