THE Queen passed away on September 8, 2022, and after a period of mourning the longest reigning monarch will be laid to rest at Westminster Abbey .

Who will attend the Queen’s funeral?
The Queen’s funeral is by invitation only with 2,000 guests at Westminster Abbey.
It is expected that all senior members of the Royal Family will attend her funeral.
Royals who are expected to attend include the Queen’s four children, King Charles, Princess Anne, Prince Andrew, and Prince Edward, as well as their spouses,
Her grandchildren, including Prince William and Prince Harry, and their wives will also attend.
It is unknown if her great-grandchildren, including second in line to the throne, Prince George, will attend.
Important world leaders will be in attendance as well as Prime Minister Liz Truss and leader of the opposition, Sir Keir Starmer.

Her former PMs could also be invited including Tony Blair, David Cameron and Boris Johnson.
First Minister of Scotland, Nicola Sturgeon, is also expected to attend along with Irish premier Micheal Martin.
The full list has not been confirmed but we can expect New Zealand’s Prime Minister, Jacinda Ardern, Japan’s Emperor, Naruhito, French President, Emmanuel Macron, and members of European Royal Families to be present.
Can members of the public attend the Queen’s funeral?
While the Queen’s funeral at Westminster Abbey will be a closed affair, members of the public can still be involved in the day.
The Queen’s coffin will lie in state at Westminster Hall until 6.30am on the day of the funeral, where members of the public can file by her coffin until it is moved.
When her coffin is transported from Westminster Hall to Westminster Abbey, a procession will take place in which mourners can join the parade.
This will be a full military parade with contributions from the Navy and the RAF.
The parade will end at Hyde Park Corner.
Where will the Queen’s funeral take place?
The Queen’s coffin will be placed in Westminster Hall from Wednesday, September 14, until Monday, September 19, 2022, where she will lie-in-state until her funeral is scheduled to take place.
On the morning on September 19, her coffin will be transported from Westminster Hall to Westminster Abbey where her state funeral is being held.
Later in the day, the Queen’s coffin will be taken to St George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle for a televised committal service.
When is the Queen’s funeral?
The Queen’s funeral will take place on Monday, September, 19, 2022, at 11am.
The day of her funeral has been declared a National bank holiday, which will see the closure of schools.
According to advice, it will be down to the “discretion of individual businesses”, whether they choose to remain open as usual, open with reduced hours, or closed completely to pay their respects.
Which Leaders of State have been invited to the Queen’s funeral?
Foreign royals and dignitaries from across the world have been invited to pay their respects to the Queen at her funeral.
Some foreign monarchs have already confirmed their attendance, including King Felipe and Queen Letizia of Spain.
King Harald V and Queen Sonja of Norway and Prince Albert II and Princess Charlene of Monaco have also been confirmed as guests.
Her Majesty had dealings with many foreign leaders throughout her reign and many of the politicians have been invited to her funeral.
Both, the Conservative Party leader and recently appointed PM, Liz Truss, and Labour Party leader, Sir Keir Starmer, will be in attendance.
There will also be a representative from every G7 country attending.

Who is not allowed to attend the Queen’s funeral?
State leaders from Russia, Belarus, and Ryanmar have not received invitations to the Queen’s funeral.
Diplomatic sources said that an invitation was not sent to Russia due to Vladimir Putin‘s invasion of Ukraine.
Invitations to Her Majesty’s funeral have also not been sent to Syria, Venezeula, or Afghanistan.
This is because the UK does not have diplomatic ties with Syria or Venezuela, and due to the political situation in the Taliban led Afghanistan.
