The now Duchess of Sussex was no doubt keen to impress her fiance’s family during the celebrations, but had a mishap when talking to Prince Philip.

In the Sussexes’ explosive Netflix series, Harry & Meghan, the former actress lifted the lid on what went on behind closed doors at Sandringham.

Meghan recalled: “I remember so vividly the first Christmas at Sandringham.

“Calling my mum, and she’s like, ‘How’s it going?’.

“And I said, ‘Oh my gosh, it’s amazing’. It’s just like a big family like I always wanted. And there was just this constant movement and energy and fun.”

Meghan then shared a memory from her time with Prince Philip, who she called “H’s grandfather.”

She said: “And I just thought it was so wonderful.

“And I was like, ‘Oh, we chatted and it was so great. And I talked about this and talked about this.

“He [Prince Harry] was like, ‘You had his bad ear. He couldn’t hear anything you were saying.’

“I was like ‘Oh… well, I thought it went really well!'”

Meghan’s pal and royal author Omid Scobie claimed Meghan’s connection with Prince Philip and the Queen was “probably her strongest relationship within the family”.

Although she was unable to attend Prince Philip’s funeral in 2021 due to being heavily pregnant, Meghan requested for a handwritten note to be left for the late royal alongside a wreath.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex last spent Christmas with the royal family at Sandringham in 2018, before their acrimonious move to the US.

It has been claimed the Sussexes have not received a Christmas invite from The King this year, .

However insiders allege The King can invite Harry and Meghan for New Year in Scotland while the Waleses stay at Anmer Hall in Norfolk.

The move could mean the brothers both get the chance to see their dad over the festive period, with William going to Sandringham at Christmas.
