Prince William gives his verdict on new England manager as Thomas Tuchel takes reigns for 18-month contract

PRINCE William has shared his verdict as England announce Thomas Tuchel as their new manager.

The Prince of Wales shared an inspiring message on social media this morning to congratulate the German coach.

In a heartwarming Instagram post from the Prince and Princess of Wales' official platform, William wrote: "Exciting times for England, with a generation of talented players and a new manager taking the reins.

"Thomas, wishing you the best of luck, we're all behind you! W".

Wills also shared the same encouraging message on his official X account.

It comes as Tuchel has been officially announced as the new England manager.

The former Chelsea boss has been out of work since May, when he left German giants Bayern Munich.

The German coach was a name that was constantly mentioned to be high on the FA's shortlist of potential candidates to replace Gareth Southgate.

Other leading contenders for the England post included the likes of Jurgen Klopp, Graham Potter, Eddie Howe and Pep Guardiola.

Interim boss Lee Carsley was also under consideration for the role but he will resume his role as head coach of the Under-21s.

Tuchel has signed an 18-month deal with the FA to become the new England head coach.

The former Chelsea gaffer will begin his job in charge of the Three Lions on January 1, 2025.

SunSport understands that the German will take home £5million a year as England boss.

Terms in Tuchel's contract also reportedly include a bonus for winning the World Cup with the next edition of the huge tournament staged in 2026 across the United States, Mexico and Canada.
