Key way Kate Middleton & Prince William prove they are in sync – while Meghan Markle regularly ‘outshines’ Harry
YOU only have to look at Kate Middleton and Prince William to know they are in sync as a couple.
Body language aside - their perfectly coordinated outfits say it all, according to a fashion expert.
Amber Graafland, who has 25 years experience in fashion, told Fabulous that the Prince and Princess of Wales provide a masterclass in stylish couple dressing.
She revealed: “For some successful celebrities this is the gateway to creating a lucrative brand, very much in the mould of the Beckhams.
“Having an instantly recognisable couples’ style can mean big business.
“For Kate and William however it’s not about sharing an identity, far from it in fact.

“For the Waleses it’s a way of demonstrating that they’re totally in tune; dressing to complement each other without losing their individual identities.”
Amber said that the couple show they are a team with their complementary clothing but not in a “shouty matchy way like Posh’n’Becks in matching leather.”
Latest unity
We recently saw Kate and William align for the Princess’ first public appearance since ending her chemotherapy treatment last month.
Amber shared: “The Princess re-wore a burgundy polka dress from Whistles with a chocolate brown Alexander McQueen coat.
“The Prince coordinated by wearing a burgundy jumper and tie underneath his blazer.
“When the eyes of the world are upon them these tiny details speak volumes.
“Not only is burgundy very much on trend, therefore adding an element of style to their outfit choices, but the coordinated looks helped to create the perfect camera moment.
“After a period of intense uncertainty, it was important to convey the couple’s unity.”
And it is not the first time they have perfectly coordinated their looks, as they regularly prove they are masters at it.
In a rare casual appearance while paying a visit to Outfit Moray in November 2023 William and Kate coordinated perfectly in dark pants and army green jackets.
Amber shared: “While Kate’s plaid jacket was by Burberry, and William’s monotone technical, water repellent look came from Suit Supply, the outfits worked together beautifully.”
We also saw matching outfits on a visit to Aston Villa Football Club back in July 2023.
The fashion editor shared: “The royal couple both wore short puffer jackets, with the Prince opting for a blue North Face jacket and Kate a similar quilted style in red.”
Meanwhile, at King Charles III’s Coronation Garden Party back in May 2023 the Prince and Princess of Wales shared a subtle coordinating moment.
Amber shared that they wore the exact same shade of blue; ensuring the Prince’s tie was the perfect shade of cornflower blue to match Kate’s Alessandra Rich dress.
At the 2023 Commonwealth Day Service on March 13, the Prince and Princess of Wales' Barbour jackets were yet another case in point.
The fashion pro added: “Visiting a local farm in County Meath Kate wore a belted Barbour jacket with a flannel shirt and jeans that had clearly been chosen to complement Williams Barbour, shirt and jeans ensemble.
“While no one can accuse the royal couple of twinning, there is no denying their prowess when it comes to putting on a subtle and stylish display of unity.”
Meg-a difference
While Kate and William often look polished together, sometimes Meghan Markle and Prince Harry look less in sync, claims the expert.
Amber added: “One royal couple that don't seem to excel at shared camera moments are Harry and Meghan.
“Dressing very much to please themselves, there is little or no attempt at coordination from either of them.
“Infact, the attention always seems to fall on Meghan who is often the star of the show.
“Hundreds of column inches have been dedicated to her style, while Harry is hardly ever mentioned.
“They would learn a thing or two from William and Kate. If they adopted some of their subtle styling tricks they would look more united, and present themselves as a stronger couple.

“More often than not it turns into the Meghan show as she so often outshines him.
“Harry, take note!”
Inside Prince William and Kate Middleton's relationship - in their words
AFTER years of dating, Prince William and Kate Middleton announced their engagement on November 16, 2010.
Prince William revealed in their interview with BBC that he knew from the start that Kate was different from other people.
He said in their engagement interview: "From my point of view, when I first met Kate, I knew there was something very special about her.”
When asked what drew them together, it turns out her “naughty sense of humour” was the tipping point.
He said: “She’s got a really naughty sense of humour, which really helps me because I’ve got a really dirty sense of humour so it was good fun, we had a really good laugh, and then things happened.”
And it appears that Prince William is a very caring partner towards Kate. Swoon.
She previously told Hello! how much of a gentleman William is, and said: "You know, over the years William has looked after me, he's treated me very well — as the loving boyfriend he is, he is very supportive of me through the good times and also through the bad times.”
In April 2011, Prince William and Kate Middleton tied the knot at Westminster Abbey in a ceremony watched around the world by millions of fans.
Kate wore a spectacular Alexander McQueen dress and the smitten prince could be seen telling Kate: “You look beautiful” before the service began.
They may have an unconventional life, but when it comes to their relationship, it all boils down to having fun.
Prince William added: “Obviously we both have a very fun time together, both have a very good sense of humour about things, we're down to earth, we take the mickey out of each other a lot, and she's got plenty of habits that make me laugh that I tease her about."
