But is it worth upgrading to the Versa 4?

To answer just that, we're putting both wearables up against each other to help you decide.

We’ve compared everything from price and design to how their fitness and smartwatch features stack up.

Of course, there's plenty of choice when it comes to Fitbits and we've also put the Fitbit Sense vs Fitbit Versa 3 head to head.

Fitbit Versa 3 vs Fitbit Versa 4: At a glance

Anyone in the market for a new fitness tracker and stuck between the Fitbit Versa 3 and Versa 4 should consider what they value more in their wearable.

If you are solely fitness-focused, then the Versa 4 comes with almost twice as many exercise modes and an upgraded operating system, so will suit you down to the ground.

But if you want an all-rounder wearable with smartwatch specs that you can use day-to-day the Versa 3 offers you more for you money.

We take a deeper dive into how these Versa wearables differ below and give our verdict on whether you should upgrade or opt for the Versa 3 instead.

Fitbit Versa 3 vs Fitbit Versa 4: Price

When the Fitbit Versa 3 entered the market it stood around the £200 mark, and two years later its successor the Fitbit Versa 4 would set you back the same.

Since then we've seen prices shift as the arrival of newer additions to the Fitbit line-up have made older generations more affordable.

You'll also find plenty of deals on Fitbit's previous generations and both models are on offer right now.

As it stands, the Fitbit Versa 3 is naturally the cheaper option at just £133.99 on sale.

While the Versa 4 is a slightly pricer pick at £173, that comes with a few upgrades from its predecessor.

  • Fitbit Versa 3, £133.99 (was £199.99) -
  • Fitbit Versa 4, £173. (was £199.99) -

Here is everywhere you can pick up both Fitbit Versa trackers:

Fitbit Versa 3 vs Fitbit Versa 4: Design

You'd be forgiven for assuming these two wearables were one and the same, as the Versa 4 maintained much of the well-loved design of the Versa 3.

Both feature a sleek square display and rounded corners, with the Versa 4 just a touch thinner than its older counterpart.

The Versa 4 has reintroduced an old design feature in the form of a physical navigation button, which was lost on the Versa 3 and makes for a smoother user experience.

But in all other respects, these two Fitbits are very alike, you'll get an aluminium case and rubberised wristband, all of which are highly customisable.

Fitbit's rubberised wristbands can be replaced and made your own, with plenty of  on the market too.

Fitbit Versa 3 vs Fitbit Versa 4: Fitness features

The Versa 3 and Versa 4 share plenty of features, but there's one clear winner here in regards to what fitness specs you'll be enjoying.

But first, lets look at what features are shared on both watches and how they'll help you meet your fitness goals.

The Versa 4 shares many of the same fitness specs as the Versa 3, including built-in GPS, a step tracker, heart rate monitoring, activity tracker, and a 24/7 sleep profile.

So for your general fitness tracking needs, either of this devices shape up well.

Both Versa watches also share the same sensors and tracked metrics, so there's no competition there, but the Versa 4 does come with an upgraded opperating system.

Where the Fitbit Versa 4 seperates itself from the Versa 3 is the addition of 20 new exercise modes, which means wearers can track things like HIIT workouts, dancing and even CrossFit.

So the Versa 4 has a clear edge on its predecessor, which is limited to the standard 20 exercise modes.

Fitbit Versa 3 vs Fitbit Versa 4: Smartwatch features

Aside from the fitness side of the Fitbit Versa watches are their smartwatch features, and it's here the main contentions arise.

The reason being that the Versa 4 can be considered a downgrade, as many of the smart features found on the Versa 3 have been dropped on the pricer Versa 4.

While the Versa 3 comes wi-fi enabled, with the Google Assistant, and third-party app support for the likes of running app Strava and third-party watch faces, they are all absent on the Versa 4.

You will get the Alexa assistant on the Versa 4 and the addition of Google Maps, and the Google Wallet, but whether these are worth the extra cost is up to the user.

If you are looking for an all-round smartwatch which fitness trackng capabilities we'd suggest opting for either an Apple or Samsung Galaxy Watch.
