But what if your choice of gift lands you on the naughty list?
One Reddit user has taken to the website to ask for ‘the most offensive Secret Santa presents’.
He wrote: “It’s work secret Santa time.
“Only rules are £10 maximum and it can be as rude/offensive as I want
“What’s the worst present I can give? One that will make them wish they had a HR department.”

Another Redditor responded: “You evil, evil man.
“I like this. The sheer thought of the everlasting insecurity it would inflict upon the poor soul who receives this bundle is so chilling that it makes my blood run cold.“
While someone else chipped in: “Someone I worked with gave a colleague a pig’s heart in a box. That was the last secret Santa we were allowed to do in that department.”
But how far is too far?
Another recalled: “A friend once bought a radio for his secret Santa gift... He's deaf.“
While someone else said: “When I worked at McDonald’s somebody had rotten teeth. Like they never brushed them and they were brown and you could see built up tar and plaque, it was pretty disgusting.
“Anyway, the store joker bought him a novelty huge toothbrush and massive tube of toothpaste.
“I don’t think I’ve experienced a deathly silence as that ever.”
Opting to go down the ‘personal’ route, one commenter wrote: “Depends on the person, one place I worked one of my colleagues had passed their driving test earlier that year, bought their dream car a fiat 500, then had someone for into the back of it while their husband was driving and write it off and could afford to replace it.
“Their secret Santa got them a toy version of the fiat, in the same colour.
