DRY lips are a common problem and Gisou’s lip oil has gone viral, with beauty lovers hailing it as a miracle for keeping lips nourished.

Curious to see whether it’s worth the hype, we decided to do a Gisou lip oil review, in which we tested the beauty product to see if it beats lip balm.

I’ve naturally got extremely dry lips and suffer from chapped lips in windy weather, so I need a nourishing product that will keep my lips conditioned for hours.

More hydrating than a balm and with the look of a lip gloss, lip oils are the latest craze in the beauty industry and shoppers have instantly hailed Gisou’s lip oil as one of the best solutions for dry lips. Read our full Gisou lip oil review here.

What is Gisou?

Gisou is a beauty brand that was launched five years ago by Dutch influencer Negin Mirsalehi, who comes from six generations of beekeepers.

Harnessing her family’s own honey, Gisou instantly became one of the most buzzed-about brands in the beauty industry thanks to its unique hair oil, which went viral due to its glowing, shine-boosting properties.

Following the success of her haircare range, Negin launched the Gisou lip oil and it sold out 6 hours after it launched, going viral on Tik Tok and Instagram.

Made with 99.9% natural ingredients, the star components of Gisou’s lip oil are Mirsalehi Honey, Hyaluronic Acid and Mirsalehi Bee Garden Oil Blend, which combine to create shiny lips that don't feel heavy.

It comes in beautiful packaging and is easy to use with a wand applicator. The most beautiful part about its design is its golden hue which radiates through the glass bottle.

A little goes a long way and I found that I had to wipe some excess off the rim before applying to make sure I wasn’t using too much product.

When I first applied the lip oil, I was struck by how viscous the texture was. It glided over my lips seamlessly and only took a few seconds to get complete coverage. Honey has been used for generations as a natural moisturiser and its benefits are really enhanced in this oil; it kept my lips nourished without any stickiness.

It’s perfect for those that love a glossy look as it gives a high-shine glow that accentuates your lip’s natural colour, but if you’re looking for a more matte finish, then this isn’t for you.

I applied it right before I went to bed and was surprised to discover that my lips were still soft in the morning. I also applied it throughout the day and really loved how natural it looked with my makeup. There is also a subtle honey scent that makes the application experience very enjoyable.

The oil also claims to help soften your lips over time. On the days I didn’t wear the oil, I did notice that my lips were still dry but didn’t feel as stiff as usual and would get softer with continued use.

The only downside I found was that if you applied the lip oil after putting on lipstick, the wand would stain with the lip colour so I wiped the wand with a tissue after every application to keep it clean.

Unfortunately, as Gisou’s key ingredient is honey, it’s not vegan-friendly but it is cruelty-free.

Where can I buy the Gisou lip oil?

The Gisou lip oil is available to buy from Gisou, Sephora and FeelUnique.

Gisou Honey Infused Lip Oil: the verdict

After using the lip oil for over two months, I can say that it's become a new staple in my everyday routine. I've worn less lipstick since using it and I'm really appreciating how hydrating it feels on long days. It's far less sticky than other glosses I've tried on in the past, too.

While it’s got a hefty price tag of £24, it’s guaranteed to last a good few months even with everyday use, which makes it worth it.

If you're looking for a product that will keep your lips soft and glowing, then the Gisou lip oil will become your best friend.
