Sky's all-in-one television has proven hugely popular because it's an incredibly affordable piece of tech.

It's a slickly designed, attractive product and is a convenient home for all major streaming platforms and channels.

But, as with any piece of tech you're thinking of buying, it's definitely worth checking what the Sky Glass TV can actually offer, including its record features.

Can you record on Sky Glass?

In a word: no.

The Sky Glass television doesn't have an internal hard drive, and for this reason there's no recording functionality.

This might seem like a huge oversight on Sky's part - but the brand is clearly aware that most people are gravitating towards the Glass for its built-in streaming services.

Sky seems confident that the majority of content Glass users will be watching is on-demand rather than live TV - which obviously doesn't need recording.

This does create issues with certain shows that either don't get picked up by catch-up services, or at best, spend a very short time on them (such as Match Of The Day and iPlayer, football fans will know).

It's an undeniable downside to the Glass's overall proposition, and has drawn criticism, but it's one that off-set by the product's tremendous value for money.

Is Sky Glass worth buying?

Yes, we think so - if you're after a smart television that you can pick up on an affordably pay-monthly basis, it's a superb choice.

However, it's a product that's definitely aimed at buyers who don't yet have a smart TV - if you do, it's worth taking a look at the box instead.

This TV box can be connected to your telly, and will set you up with all of Sky's channels (depending on the package you buy) - and, yes, it has recording functionality.

Does Sky Glass have catch up?

Not in the same manner as Sky Q - instead, Sky Glass works with a Playlist function.

This lets you save content from the array of streaming platforms contained in the Glass - Netflix, Amazon Prime, Disney+, iPlayer - in one convenient place to be watched later.

Can you watch BBC and ITV on Sky Glass?

Absolutely, both BBC and ITV's core channels and on-demand services are all available on the Sky Glass.

For BBC One, BBC Two, ITV, ITV2 and the like, you don't even need the Sky Glass's wi-fi connection - these channels can all be accessed via the television's Freeview app.

And for catch-up services like BBC iPlayer and ITV Hub, you'll find them all in the Glass's main interface.
