DRAW A FINE LINE

From grunge girl to almond eyes, get the most out of your eyeliner by achieving these dramatically different looks

Here, Celebrity make-up artist Lisa Sloneem shows how to achieve four very different looks

A FLICK of eyeliner can completely change your face. And that handy little tool is one of the most versatile products in your make-up bag. Add drama with a graphic feline flick, go grunge with smudged eyes or keep it elegant with an almond shape. Celebrity make-up artist Lisa Sloneem shows how to achieve four very different looks.

Graphic eyes

GRAPHIC shapes on the eyes are often left to the catwalks, but can look really beautiful if you want to go for a strong look.

Using the angled brush to create the almond shape, described right, go really bold and start high up on your lower lid.

Make the flick using the angle of the brush and fill in the line using the tip.

Just make sure to use a liner that is smudge-proof.

  • TRY: Lasting drama gel liner, £8.99, Maybelline. This can be used to create any liquid liner look and is totally smudge-proof.

Almond eyes

BY creating a line that gets thicker towards the outer corner of your eye, you will get more of an almond shape.

Use a cream or gel liner to allow for more control. Dip a fine-angled brush into the cream and remove excess product to the back of your hand.

Start at the inner corner and draw a fine line to the centre of your eyelid. Reverse the brush and start to draw your line where you’d like the top of the tick.

The brush angle will help guide the line back to centre

Then, with a tapered, pencil-shaped brush, gently smudge the liner to blend to a soft ultra-smoky finish.

Add grey eyeshadow to blend out further – and keep the lips neutral to let your eyes really stand out.
