Chisora tipped to fight fearsome Usyk for heavyweight world title if Anthony Joshua or Ruiz Jr have to give belt up
DERECK CHISORA could fight Oleksandr Usyk for the WBO heavyweight world title if Anthony Joshua or Andy Ruiz Jr have to give it up, according to Eddie Hearn.
Ruiz Jr will defend his WBA, IBF, WBO and IBO titles against Joshua on December 7 in Saudi Arabia.
But the winner of the clash will have an immediate 'mandatory headache'.
The WBO and IBF have different mandatory challengers lined up which means the winner of Joshua vs Ruiz II may have to vacate one of the belts.
Heavyweight newbie Usyk is currently mandatory for the WBO strap, and Hearn thinks the Ukrainian could fight Chisora for it if it comes up for grabs.
He told Sky Sports: “I think the Usyk fight is there.
“It's a fight that they could do, potentially even for the WBO world title next year.
"Or it's a fight that they can do in February for that mandatory position."
Although possible, it is fairly unlikely the world title fight will come to fruition.
Given that Kubrat Pulev is the IBF mandatory, both Joshua and Ruiz would probably opt to vacate that belt as the Usyk fight would provide a bigger purse.
However, there is still a chance the fighters would not have to vacate either belt if the WBO and IBF can come to an agreement.
Chisora called out Usyk following his emphatic stoppage of David Price last weekend.
The Londoner told Sky Sports: "You know what, I want to have that fight. Yeah, I would take it, 100 per cent. No shadiness, nothing, I'll take that.
"Him and his team they need to stop juggling balls, it's not a circus.
