RAHEEM STERLING is "upset" after being dropped by Gareth Southgate for Thursday's Three Lions' Euro 2020 qualifier against Montenegro.
The Manchester City star had a bust-up with Liverpool's Joe Gomez in the canteen just a day after the two rivals clashed on the pitch.
It was reported that the duo had to be pulled apart from international team-mates after Sterling had tried to grab Gomez by the throat.
The 24-year-old has since issued a statement admitting that emotions got the better of him.
But the winger insists that the issue is now done and the that he is upset at being axed because he feels it is all water under the bridge.
The incident was sparked when Gomez apparently attempted to shake his hand from behind in which Sterling asked if "he was still the big man."
Towards the end of City's 3-1 defeat, the pair squared up to each other when Sterling grew frustrated because he felt he was fouled.
Sterling has since apologised to Gomez in person, and the squad as a whole, which saved him from being sent home.
An England statement said: "The FA can confirm Raheem Sterling will not be considered for Thursday’s Euro 2020 qualifier against Montenegro as a result of a disturbance in a private team area at St. George’s Park today.
"He will remain with the squad."
Southgate said of the incident: "We have taken the decision to not consider Raheem for the match against Montenegro on Thursday.
"One of the great challenges and strengths for us is that we’ve been able to separate club rivalries from the national team.

"Unfortunately the emotions of yesterday’s game were still raw.
"My feeling is that the right thing for the team is the action we have taken.
"Now that the decision has been made with the agreement of the entire squad, it’s important that we support the players and focus on Thursday night."
