HE'LL BE BACK

Frank Bruno predicts ‘Terminator’ Dubois will dominate boxing ahead of Joshua, Wilder and Fury in next two years

DANIEL DUBOIS will be back in 2020 attacking the heavyweight world champions like The Terminator.

Saturday night’s Christmas cracker against Japanese slugger Kyotaro Fujimoto will be the 22-year-old British and Commonwealth champ’s FIFTH fight of 2019.

The Peacock Gym prodigy is champing at the bit to tear into whoever out of Anthony Joshua, Deontay Wilder and Tyson Fury holds major belts next year.

And although mentor Frank Bruno would like to see the 6ft 5in powerhouse take his time, he knows Dubois’ breakthrough could signal ‘hasta la vista’ for one of the big names.

National treasure Bruno, 58, said: “Daniel has got all of the tools, he has a good jab, a good right hand and he throws good uppercuts and body punches.

“It’s great that he is scoring up all of this experience so quickly because when he goes into the lion’s den he will need to be on their level.

"He has to get as much experience as he can.

“Daniel is only 22, he could easily wait 18 months or two years before he bids for those belts.

“But, even right now, anyone that comes in his way will see him as The Terminator.”

'RIVALS SEE HIM AS THE TERMINATOR'

Former MMA fighter Fujimoto is five inches shorter than 13-0 Dubois, a similar height difference to the one AJ found so difficult to cope with in his June 1 loss to Andy Ruiz Jr.

The recrowned WBA, IBF and WBO boss had to drop a stone in weight and dramatically change his seek-and-destroy style to win the rematch against his far shorter opponent.

But Dubois insists he will not be swerving dad Big Dave’s dinners or throwing out trainer Martin Bowers’ tactics to handle a stumpier challenge.

Dynamite Dubois said: “I will be as sharp as ever and facing a guy who is a lot shorter than me is not going to be a problem.

“I will be able to adapt, boxing is all about adapting to the different styles opponents bring to question your skills.

“I am the centre of attention and it’s a privilege, I wake up motivated every day.”

Dubois is promoted by Frank Warren, who is on the cusp of co-promoting the Gypsy King’s second clash with terrifying American KO artist Wilder.

And Greenwich ace Dubois dreams of his matchmaker being able to strike a similar deal for him to face the Bronze Bomber before the 34-year-old hangs up his granite gloves.

He said: “Wilder knows what he is doing, his ring knowledge is good, he knows how to feel a fighter out and can see when they are in trouble and when to go for the finish.

“He has been a champion for a long time and proven himself, he is the finished article now and he is at the top of his game.

“What a day it would be if we could make that fight happen. I want that fight, we would get it on with anybody.”
