The German stopper had made 25 league appearances for Besiktas this season before coronavirus put football on hold but it seems his time with the Turkish side has come to an end.

According to , Wolves are lined up to secure the 26-year-old on a loan deal from the Reds.

The German is parting ways with Besiktas on a sour note after he had a pop at the club over unpaid wages which the claims has left him close to terminating his deal.

According to a board member at the Turkish side, Karius had complained to Fifa after money was withheld which left him wanting his contract ripped up.

Board member Erdal Torunogullari confirmed Karius wanted to leave the club in a statement on  in which he described the payment as undeserved.

He said: "Karius has gone to Fifa over his unpaid wages and termination of his contract.

"He wants us to pay him for the months he hasn't played.

"He wants to leave and that's his decision. We don't want to make an undeserved payment."

Karius arrived at Anfield from Mainz four years ago for around £4.7m but was given the boot by boss Jurgen Klopp after the signing of Brazilian ace Alisson.

The German stopper is most remembered for two monumental blunders in the 3-1 defeat to Real Madrid in the 2018 Champions League final.

And since arriving at Besiktas, Karius’ time has been turbulent, with him failing to win over fans as well as the manager.

The German has made a series of high-profile errors for the Turkish giants and has gifted several goals to opposing sides.

Karius’ form reportedly took a dive when he was partying too much after splitting from his girlfriend, Sophia Thomalla.

The goalkeeper was spotted on nights out in Istanbul, which affected his performance between the sticks, leaving Besiktas boss Sergen Yalcin on the lookout for a replacement.
