Carl Froch ‘concerned’ for Mike Tyson as he and Whyte beg legend not to make comeback at 53 over fears of ruining legacy
MIKE TYSON has been urged NOT to make a boxing comeback by fellow former world champ Carl Froch.
Over the last few weeks Tyson has teased a sensational return to the sport that saw him become one of the most feared heavyweights of all time.
And while Tyson looks sensational in some of his training clips at the age of 53, Froch has warned there is much more to boxing that that.
WBC mandatory challenger Dillian Whyte and promoter Eddie Hearn are among others who aren't too keen on it happening.
Speaking on his Froch On Fighting podcast, the former unified middleweight champ said: "I mean if you're in your 30s and been retired a year or two I'd say no, don't bother, because you can never be what you was.
"During your 50s you should not even be considering it.
"I've seen Mike Tyson, he looks explosive and he looks fantastic for the five second clip I've seen of him on Instagram.
"But we're talking about three minute rounds for 12 rounds or a two minute round if it's professional boxing.
"There's a reason why these people retire, because they can't do it anymore."
The clamour has been growing for Iron Mike to return after fellow boxing legend Evander Holyfield, 57, also signalled his intention to return to the sport.
That could set up a trilogy scrap between the two, with Holyfield 2-0 up including that infamous night where Tyson bit a chunk of his ear off.
Tyson retired from boxing after losing to slugger Kevin McBride in 2005. Holyfield hung up the gloves in 2011.
Froch is worried that the expected money thrown at Tyson for these kind of fights could see him return.

He added: "I don't know what's got inside their head, I don't know what the train of thought is, whether it's money motivated or ego whatever it is.
"There's a lot of people talking about it and I'm very concerned and I don't think it's a good idea.
"You lose your reflexes, you lose your timing and distance and your endurance starts to slip away in your early to mid 30s.
"So in your 50s to come back and compete at a top level against young athletes, you've absolutely got zero chance.
"I don't care if you're name is Mike Tyson, its not happening at that level."
Tyson might not be too happy with Froch's words, but the Sheffield man is not shy in having an opinion.
SunSport reported on his recent spat with reigning WBA, IBF and WBO heavyweight king Anthony Joshua.

Froch was not happy that he failed to make SunSport's top ten pound-for-pound boxers of the last 30 years.
He used AJ's inclusion at No10 as reason why he should be in it and then claimed Joshua sent him four Whatsapp messages, only to immediately delete them.
Joshua then responded telling Froch to "shut up".
