Former UFC champion Tito Ortiz reveals he is becoming a cop to help ‘bring respect back’ to the police force
FORMER UFC king Tito Ortiz has revealed he is becoming a cop to “bring respect back” to the police force.
The 45-year-old UFC Hall of Famer last fought inside the Octagon at Combate Americas 51 when he forced ex-WWE star Alberto El Patron to tap with a rear-naked choke in the first.
Now he could be facing up to his biggest challenge yet by becoming a lawman.
US police continue to come under fire and face calls for a reform amid the Black Lives Matter protests after the death of George Floyd.
Ortiz, who held UFC’s light heavyweight title for three years until 2003, is one of those still supporting police even though he has condemned the actions of the officer’s involved in the Floyd case.
And the “Huntington Beach Bad Boy” recently took to Instagram to let a fan know of his intention to help them out.
He posted an image of the Statue of Liberty crying, captioning it with: “This is how America feels right now! We need to unite for her. #WeThePeople #Americamatters.”
One of his followers commented that they were losing hope in humans.

But Ortiz responded: “Don’t you dare give up.
“We need you. I need you. You can do it. I’m going to be a police officer.
“I can help bring respect back to officers. We should treat each other how we want to be treated.”
