Neymar is demanding five-times his current wage to stay with Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez at Barcelona
Brazilian superstar is currently on £77,000-a-week at the Nou Camp and a lot less than his striker partners are earning
NEYMAR has sent Barcelona into a scramble to keep him at the club.
Football Leaks revealed the Brazilian’s contract and showed he was earning £77,000-a-week – which is less than a lot of Premier League footballers.
And now AS are reporting that the Samba star is demanding the Catalan club quintuple his weekly wages.
The news will come as a boost to Manchester United and City who have been linked with a move for the striker.
Barca president Josep Bartomeu is now searching for the funds to keep Neymar along with Luis Suarez and Lionel Messi.
Bartomeu is now negotiating a shirt sponsorship deal, a new shirt supplier agreement with Nike and offering the naming rights to the new Nou Camp.
But there is a worry that if Neymar – who is out of contract with the reigning European champions – secures a mega-money deal then Suarez and Messi will demand similar wages.
To put Neymar’s wage in perspective, if he stayed on the same wage he would be on £3,000 less than Jonjo Shelvey even if Newcastle got relegated.
