City's director of football Txiki Begiristain asked for a swap deal but his Bayern counterpart Hasan Salihamidžić refused, according to German outlet .

The Bundesliga giants were forced to apologise to City last week for releasing pictures of Sane in a Bayern shirt before the deal was officially announced.

Photos of the winger wearing his new club’s shirt began to appear on social media on Thursday night.

Sane, 24, had spent the day in Munich completing his medical and meeting with club officials at the training ground.

The deal was then confirmed Friday morning but had not gone through when the images were leaked - so Bayern had to say sorry to City for their mistake.

Sane is set to pocket around £20m in “extras” over his five year stay at Bayern.

The German international will earn around £385,000-a-week in wages in Bavaria – which works out around £19.8m-a-year.

And the ex-Schalke star can also expect image rights worth around £2m-a-year in a contract that runs until summer 2025.

Sane's addition to Bayern's already potent attack could see them become the best team in the world again with a front three of Sane, Robert Lewandowski and ex-Arsenal man Serge Gnabry.
