Leeds ‘in contact with Julian Draxler over sensational transfer from PSG’ as Bielsa looks at squad improvement
LEEDS UNITED are reportedly plotting an audacious move for German star Julian Draxler.
The 26-year-old has entered the final 12 months of his contract at Paris Saint-Germain.
The French side’s sporting director is believed to be keen on getting the attacker of the wage bill.
Now are claiming that Leeds have contacted PSG and the players representatives over a shock transfer move.
However, despite the prospect of playing for the highly-esteemed Marcelo Bielsa, Draxler has not responded positively to the Elland Road club’s approach.
It is claimed he has no intention of giving up his Parisian lifestyle at present with both he and his family settled.
And he is also believed to have rejected a number of approaches to return back to the Bundesliga.
But Leeds are said to still be keen and are not prepared to give up their pursuit at the first hurdle.
And today’s report indicates that they could go back with another proposition in the coming days.
Draxler currently earns £120,000-a-week at Parc des Princes and it seems he would have to lower those demands if he were to join a new club.
He has failed to live up to expectations with the French club since he joined from Wolfsburg in January 2017.
Bielsa has already been active in the market this summer after guiding Leeds to promotion.
They smashed the club’s transfer-record to sign forward Rodrigo from Valencia for £36m.
Defender Robin Koch followed him in joining Leeds, with five other new arrivals already secured plus Jack Harrison returning on loan from Manchester City for a second campaign.
Leeds travel to Liverpool on Saturday to kick-off the Premier League season.
