LIVERPOOL winger Harry Wilson will return from Wales’ Nations League tie in Bulgaria tomorrow and spend two frantic days trying to settle his short term future.
Fierce East Midlands rivals Derby County and Nottingham Forest both want to sign the 23-year-old on loan while Welsh duo Cardiff City and Swansea City are also in the frame.
The 18-times-capped Welsh international had hoped to tie up a permanent move to a Premier League club this summer with Leeds United or Aston Villa and Burnley all interested in the goalscoring winger.
However, after agreeing a near £10million move to Burnley, Liverpool were surprised when Clarets boss Sean Dyche had an 11th hour change of heart and pulled out of the deal.
Now Wilson will have to go on loan to a Championship club to guarantee himself regular top team football ahead of next summer’s European Championships, where he hopes to play a major part for Ryan Giggs’ Wales.
Recently appointed Nottingham Forest boss Chris Hughton would love to beat local rivals Derby to Wilson’s signature to set down an early marker for the rest of the season.
But the Rams believe they have a significant advantage after the winger became a huge fans' favourite at Pride Park, scoring 18 goals in 49 games during a successful loan period in 2018/19.
Swansea was thought to be a suitable loan option after they took fellow Anfield youngster Rhian Brewster on loan.
Kop chiefs liked the way he was handled by the Welsh club and returned to be sold - the same fate that would ideally await Wilson.
Brewster, 20, scored ten goals in 20 appearances for the Swans last season as he looked to prove he was worth a spot in Jurgen Klopp's side.

But he moved to Sheffield United on a five-year deal for £23.5million earlier this month as he couldn't be guaranteed games with the champions.
Wilson has made just one appearance for the Reds this term, coming off the bench in the Carabao Cup defeat to Arsenal.
He missed a crucial penalty in the shoot-out which could turn out to be his last kick in a Liverpool this season.
