Man City hope to use Jadon Sancho sell-on clause to beat Man Utd to Erling Haaland transfer

MANCHESTER CITY hope they could have an ace up their sleeve in the race for Borussia Dortmund hotshot Erling Haaland.

The Etihad giants — along with neighbours Manchester United — are among a host of clubs keeping tabs on the striker.

And City believe the 15 per cent sell-on clause they have on Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho could work in their favour.

That is likely to be worth more than £15million — with the German club valuing the England ace at around £120m.

So they could agree to waiver or renegotiate that in order to gain an advantage over other clubs pursuing Haaland.

City will be in the market for a new striker this summer as they look to find a long-term replacement for all-time leading scorer Sergio Aguero, 32.

And they are waiting to hear if Haaland, 20, son of former City midfielder, Alf Inge, is going to be available this summer.

The starlet can leave Dortmund in the summer of 2022 for a fixed buyout clause of £65m.

But the German giants know some of his admirers are willing to pay a substantial premium in the next few months to avoid missing out.

City feel Haaland could lead their line for the next ten years and boss Pep Guardiola is a big fan.

The Norwegian has scored 19 goals in 16 games for Dortmund this season, having signed last year.

It came after he snubbed a move to United in favour of the German giants, who are fourth in the league, five points off leaders Bayern Munich.
