Real Madrid: how Zinedine Zidane’s side could line up if they splash the cash on potential targets such as Paul Pogba and Robert Lewandowski
REAL MADRID will be chasing more global stars this summer to defend their Champions League crown.
Los Blancos are now the most attractive club in Europe, surely overtaking their fierce rivals Barcelona as well as Bayern Munich as the continent's No1 destination.
And with Zinedine Zidane taking charge of the team for his first summer, SunSport takes a look at who he will want to bring on board.
Hugo Lloris
AFTER two years of disappointment at failing to sign Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea Los Blancos are reportedly weighing up a move for Spurs goalkeeper Hugo Lloris.
A bid of £35million is seen as enough to tempt Tottenham to part with the club captain but with Spurs having qualified for next seasons Champions League it will be seen as a huge blow.
Real Madrid conceded more goals than their main two title rivals Barcelona and Athletico Madrid so a world class goalkeeper is very much at the top of the list.
Robert Lewandowski
ROBERT LEWANDOWSKI could make the switch from Bayern Munich to Real Madrid with the pole said to favour a transfer to the Spanish capital ahead of the Premier League.
Lewandowski would form part of a formidable strike force along with Cristano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale to rival that of Barcelona.
The striker knows however that a big hitter from Real must make way if he is to get his dream move and Zinedane Zidane will have to seriously consider flogging Karim Benzema to make the move possible.
Zizou knows the importance of performing better in La Liga with the club not winning the title since 2012.
N'Golo Kante
THIS may tempt him in to snatching N'Golo Kante from under the noses of Premier League clubs. His performances for Leicester and France at Euro 2016 have turned many heads.
Kante has many suitors most notably from PSG to work under fellow Frenchman Zidane would surely be to tempting to turn down.
Kante would certainly add steel to a very technical midfield allowing for the likes of Luka Modric to find the killer pass and open teams up.
The future of Toni Kroos has never been assured if he was to be sold then a space for a more defence minded anchor man would make a move all the more possible.
Paul Pogba
THE likes of James Rodriguez and Isco could well find themselves heading towards the exit door at the Bernabeau meaning a potential swoop for Paul Pogba could be on the cards.
They will have to move quick for his signature however with Man United wanting to re-sign the midfielder they let leave for Juventus in 2012 for nothing.
Again Zidane will have the pull of being a massive influence to any up and coming french player. At 23 Pogba is turning in to one of the best midfielders in the world.
At such an age he may feel someone of Zidane's calibre and experience of playing at the top level will only help take him to the next level.
Senior players at the club are known to respect Zidane because of his massive success as a player which appeared not to be the case when the side struggled under Rafa Benitez.
Laurent Koscienly
ALVARO MORATA may well be sold on even though he has only just returned to the club after two years with Juventus after a buy back clause was triggered.
This may well open the door to a potential bargaining ploy with Arsenal in what could be used as bait to lure them in to selling Laurent Koscienly.
With Raphael Varane not a guaranteed starter the Galaticos may decide that Koscienly with his experience of playing in front of Lloris could form a very tight knit unit at the back.
Real Madrid could look to play a 4-1-2-3 with Kante protecting a defence with a french connection of Koscienly and Lloris.
Pogba continues that strong french spine in midfield with Modric running in to pockets to pick up the ball in what will be a very fast ball moving midfield.
The transition from defence to attack could be mesmerising as Ronaldo and Bale cut in and interchange with target man Lewandowski.
A team that manged 110 goals in La Liga could well be pushing way past that in their quest for domestic success.
